Overview

With this program EnvoyGolf offers the opportunity for your young greenkeepers to have a unique self-funded working holiday experience, working on Australian and New Zealand golf courses, during your winter and our summer! They learn about different golf course conditions and work environments, expand their knowledge, and experience and make new friends for life, working and living in a different culture, enjoying a southern summer with a good income to fund it.

Our program was initiated in the southern summer of 2019/2020, and we successfully placed Scandinavian greenkeepers with golf clubs in Australia, who needed additional staff over the summer growing season. The subsequent years have seen an expansion of our program with greenkeepers from Sweden, Finland, Canada, and the UK participating during the 2022/2023 season.

How does this work?

The process for greenkeepers is straightforward. If they are eligible for an Australian or New Zealand Working Holiday Visa, which depending on the passport they hold, requires them to be between the ages of 18 to 30 or 18 to 35, they register on the EnvoyGolf website, and we then match them with jobs at our client golf clubs in Australia and New Zealand. We support them with all the necessary information, guidance, and assistance throughout the process, including coordination of travel, banking arrangements and everything else they need to work and live here over our summer. We also work with them and their golf clubs to assist them with finding accommodation and are here to support them throughout their stay.

Costs/Income – The individuals themselves are responsible for their Working Holiday Maker visa fees, airfares, and living costs while in Australia or New Zealand. However, the income during their employment here over the summer is typically sufficient to cover these expenses, with enough of a surplus to enjoy their time here.   The standard working week is 38 hours, and with overtime, they could earn anywhere from A$900 to A$1200 a week, after tax.

Timing – golf clubs here are typically looking for additional staff over the Oct/November to April/May period and we will have staggered departure dates through the Oct/November period.

Marlene Lennartsson from Rya Golf Club, Sweden, working at New South Wales Golf Club for her second season in a row (2021/2022 and 2022/2023 –  “I worked my second season down under and at New South Wales Golf Club, it’s a great opportunity to travel down under and you will get the best education for your further career in greenkeeping. You will also live your dream life outside work. Big thanks to EnvoyGolf and NSWGC for this opportunity”.
